Good or Godly
This is the final edition of Monday Meditations for the Corpath year.
Monday Meditations will resume in September.
It doesn’t take a lot of deep thinking to understand who the audience is that reads these weekly meditations… You are business people. You are productive. You are entrepreneurs. You are leaders.
No doubt, as you have developed your business and career, you have spent some time thinking about what it means to be a good leader. Qualities like integrity, good listening, skills, strategic thinking, etc. might be some of the qualities that might come to mind.?
Before we go any further, I want to ask you…
Q: in the past week, have you been a good leader? What examples of your leadership do you have?
Being a Godly leader means we have a unique opportunity to integrate faith and business principles while positively impacting the lives of employees, customers, and others we connect with as we do business.
To be an effective Christian leader, we continually drive for excellence, pursue truth, and operate with integrity. We strive to exemplify servant leadership, and take a Christ-centered approach to decision making.
Here are a few additional key principles to consider…
As a Godly leader, we desire to:
1. Seek God's Guidance
As a Christian leader, it is essential to seek God's guidance through prayer and meditation. By cultivating a personal relationship with God, leaders gain wisdom, discernment, and clarity to make sound decisions and lead with humility.
James 3:17 (ESV) says “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.”
2. Lead by Example
Effective Christian leaders set the example for others to follow. They demonstrate integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior in all aspects of their work. By upholding high moral standards, leaders create a positive and trustworthy work environment.
2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV) says, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
3. Serve Others
Following Jesus' example of servant leadership, Christian leaders prioritize the needs of others above their own. They are attentive to the well-being of their employees, customers, and others, seeking to serve and empower them to reach their full potential.
Galatians 5:13-14 (ESV) says, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Being a Godly leader in the marketplace requires a commitment to integrating faith and business principles. By seeking God's guidance, leading by example, serving others, and embracing humility, you can make a lasting impact on their teams, organizations, and the marketplace you serve.
My Prayer:
God, I thank you for this message today. You have reminded me that my calling to leadership is to be a positive impact to everyone around me, even the market in which I do business. Please show me those in my circle that need a touch from you. May I be faithful in leading them as you would. Amen.
Blessings as Always!
